Mandinga Arts researches, designs, creates and delivers extraordinary and innovative outdoor performance costumes, puppets and processions, engaging communities in collaboration with skilled professional artists.
The company has developed a distinctive style bringing together live music, carnival, street costume, puppetry and dance, drawing on diverse influences from Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa, facilitating high quality community contributions and a new aesthetic to the carnival and outdoor performance movement in the UK and overseas. Based in Clapham South (London Borough of Lambeth), where it has a design and making studio and costume archive, Mandinga Arts has contributed to Outdoor Arts events at many festivals and events across UK and European locations, including Notting Hill Carnival, Waterloo Carnival, Carnaval del Pueblo, Night of Festivals, Brighton Pride, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Bath Paralympic Parade, Gabrovo Carnival (Bulgaria), STAMP Festival (Germany), and Aalborg Carnival (Denmark). The Company draws on a range of traditional skills, and new technology, for an inventive and imaginative approach to design and performance.
